The Equalizer 3 Movie Review

Ratings: ⭐️⭐️

The Equalizer 3 offers a disappointing follow-up to its predecessors, earning a lackluster 2/5 rating. Denzel Washington reprises his role as Robert McCall, this time taking on the mafia in Italy. The film starts with promise, introducing intriguing characters and a potentially exciting setting, but ultimately falls short. The story feels clichéd, reminiscent of Bollywood classics like Sholay and Ghulam, while the screenplay fails to live up to its potential.

Director Antoine Fuqua's initial setup is engaging, with a menacing antagonist and a captivating atmosphere. However, as the plot unfolds, the lack of action and the predictable storyline become apparent. The finale fight, while dramatic, fails to deliver the adrenaline-pumping action fans might expect from the series.

Denzel Washington's performance shines once again, carrying the film to some extent, while the supporting cast delivers mixed results. Marcelo Zarvos' music adds excitement, and Robert Richardson's cinematography captures the beauty of Italy with stunning shots. However, the film's editing could have been more concise.

In summary, The Equalizer 3 struggles due to a weak second half and a shortage of the action that defined its predecessors, ultimately earning its 2-star rating.
